Possible Downtime for Database Configuration Changes

We set up an auto-scaling and replicated database over the weekend. We experienced some slowness today believed to be caused by a configuration setting when it was set up, using up more resources on the database than it should have causing connections to slow down. To modify the configuration setting, we'll be swapping the primary database with the secondary, performing the change, then swapping back and then changing the secondary. There's a possibility that there may be some interrupted service while the changes are being made. We expect service to be back to normal within a few minutes.
